Alternate Ending: British Win the Revolution

Let's pretend for a moment that the British actually won the Revolution. The patriot rebels, though fighting gallantly in the open fields of battle, were no match for the British. Despite honorable efforts by Washington, Gates, Greene, and Lee to lead the Continental Army, the American Uprising was squashed by the most powerful force in the world, leaving America under the control of the Crown. What would have happened had this been true? As we have talked about and read about, this war was by no means a "blow-out" for the patriots. The odds were stacked against us quite heavily, especially in the early goings of 1776. Victory was NOT a forgone conclusion when Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence. Certain factors led to American victory, one of which was luck. Let's think, (yes, think) about what would have happened had the British won the war. I have provided a few websites for you to read about this scenario. Now, be careful. These are websites for you to read, not copy. Just because a website says something, doesn't mean that is what you should believe. Use what these websites say to help you form an opinion on what things would have been like had the British won the war. Post a comment on what you think.

Well i think if the british won the war we would have really high taxes and we wouldnt be wearing the stuff that we wear today and alot of us would wear dresses and tuxes everywhere. We wouldnt have a president in the united states wouldnt be as big as it is today it would be alot smaller and alot less people we wouldnt have all the knew technology and we probaly wouldnt have the NFL, NBA, or MLB, NHLA. We wouldnt have all these amusment parks and we probaly wouldnt have all the rights we have right now. We wouldnt have rap music and alot fo the music we have we wouldnt have G-UNIT

If the British won the American Revolution, I think that were would have been great changes. The founding fathers would have been executed. Washinton would have been imprisoned for life. Plus, all of the soldiers would become slaves for the king on cotten plantations. We would have been split up into three groups. The land of American would have been wreck for ever. We would have not had the freedom we do today. Plus, we would have been taxed even more heavily then we ever had been.

Let's get one thing straight. If we HAD lost the war, there would deffinately been some sort of punishment. The colonies would probably be taxed so bad, that they would habe people stuck out on the streets, and people that could barely afford the taxation. If Britain coninued to go along on this plan of conquering the entire North America, then Britain would be unmatched in wealth, power, and most likely have one of the worlds highest populations.
People would probably try to head North, South, or West to escape the British troops that would be chasing our leaders, such as George Washington; if he hadn't been caught yet anyway.
There would probably be plenty of hangings, and executions too. Ben Franklin, Samuel Adams, and other such as these would be hung in front of the public to reduce moral in the Americas, just to make sure that nothing like the Revolution ever occured again.
If Britain won, they might, wait, will get way more cocky then they already are. They would probably think that they should rule all of the Europeans, so they would go on campaigns to expand territory. This might resolt in the entire of Europe being under British control, or just end up Britain losing it all. I for one don't think that the British would be that stupid though. A man tried to do that very thing a couple hundred years later, and ended up commiting suicide and losing his entire nation to Allied control, but that's all for a different blog on some other time. For now, I think that Britain would eventually exhaust itself if it had won the Revolution, and hang people just to show that they can, and that the colonists can't do anything about it. Maybe the British would end up with the First World War hundreds of years before it should have. Britain would eventually run out of men, or supplies to continue this campaign for dominance, and the Patriots might have been free then.
Maybe even an apoctalyptic finish. Britain starting wars that continued for centuries, and eventually someone would invent the atom bomb, and then who knows what would happen next. All I know is that if the patriots hadn't won the Revolution, it may have affected history of other nations just as badly or worse as what would happen if they lost.

If the British had won the war life would have been horrible. To start, nearly anyone who had tried to fight against them would have been taken as slave or exucuted. The king would take rights from everyone to make sure that a war never broke out again, no one would be left in a room without a soldier close by. The British would be angry at the patriots for the trouble they caused. America would be turned into a slave camp, people would work to make things for the british and the left-overs would be used to keep them alive.
Now in 2009 things have gone back to normal, or as normal as it can be still under British power. Though the threat of war is low, it's about the same as it was the days befor the war. No one trys to fight the British, not after the terrible things they've done to people who have disagreed in the past. It depends on who's in power, but it's never much better. People live in fear, no one knows when they'll come and take someone victim just to show how we are still at their mercy. Talk of reableing is'nt very commen, but when someone talks of it they are taken away. Now during the night I think the same thought is on every mind, "If only they had won! If only we were free."
That's what I belive is how life would be if the British won the war.

If the British would've won the war probably would have been called the British Revolution. Besides that, the Americans would still have rebelled and then the king would have sent over british people to kill the rebellions. So the number of rebels would dwindle and everything would be alright until much later when the colonists would want to expand and take over more land and the king wouldn't let them because he would fear that they would turn the people in the current area traitor against him and weaken the british forces. Another war would begin and when the British would win they would declare the land and continue to take grasp on more land until they had so much land that they wer the most powerful people in the world as we know it. We would all be Redcoats in the end with many many enemies.

I think if the British would have won the Revolution there would have been many changes. First of all we wouldnt live in the United States of America. There would have been no one to write the Constititution or Declaration of Independence. So therefore, we would not have a fourth of July to celebrate our independence. Then if we would have surrendered, all nine leaders, including many famous founding fathers would have been executed. And George Washington would be imprisioned for life. Then we would be divided into 3 different groups, northern, central, and southern, known as the CNA. Many people wished for an expantion of the civil war. We ended up being called the United States of Mexico.

i think that if we lost the war the loyalists would stay and continue sucking up to britan. nwhile the patriots had not moved on they went to the west they had some struggles but they made it al the way to the mississippi rier in the middle of the continet. there they would live and multiply until they had enough people to launch an attack on the british. they would sail down river and go into the ocean mean while the british are in the colonies. the patriots sailed to the island of Great Britan and attacked the place. they started in the south and pushed north leaving evry one but soldiers and officals alive and well. the country folk were tired of taxes so some of them joined the force. these people were known as blue coats. they pushed to london and deystroed the parlimant. they pushed south until no more forces were there. they had conqured britan. or most of it. they still had to defeat all the soldiers in the colonies and the loyalists. this would be known as the lpatriots war. they defeated half of the british and they surrenderd. we snt them to canada to forma a new country like there old one.
Thus America is born.

I think if we lost the Revolutionary War then we probably couldn't have been on British rules. I say couldn't because i bet if we didn't win the revolutionary war then other countries would probably be in a war fighting for this land. But if that didn't happen then i think we could've been on British rules, they would probably do even way more punishment to us like with taxes and other stuff. I think they would probably make us pay for all the distruction and we had to fix everything that was messed up in the end of the war. My other opinion is that if we lost and they kept on putting taxes on stuff then we probably would have fought again to get out freedom. So thats what i think if we lost the American Revolutionary war.

Well... If we hadn't won the American Revolution, we'd still be bums here, waiting for independence... occasionally attacking the British at certain points... serving up tea for pompous British soldiers... It'd be HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. They'd treat us like dirt. Their pets would too, probably. (and I mean that in other ways... D: ) And, they'd be having everything we have had. We probably wouldn't have been involved in the Vietnam War and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We'd be like... like... like SLAVES! Or we'd go like Robert Sobel said, we'd lost and we became the CNA, Confederation of North America. Then we'd make the USM, the United States of Mexico, and the CNA would start falling apart. But then there's a possibility of the same kind of American Revolution again in the future instead, like that poster, Kaylee, in that JREF Forum that Mr. Klumper posted. Sorry it's not 200 words, but I've gotta go. See ya!

If the British would have one the war there would be a huge amount of changes like we wouldnt be living in the united states right now because there wouldnt be the united states it would be whatever the king wanted it to be. second everyone we know how played a big role in the revolution would killed or hung and all the soldiers would be slaves with the rest of the coloniest. and third we wouldnt have any money because the king would put taxes on everything and it wouldnt be cheap.

I think that if we lost the American Revolution, America wouldn’t have been born, or at least not yet. If the Patriots didn’t stick out the fight, the British would have won and we would still be under the British control. If the British would have won the war, many countries that helped us out in the war would most likely be at war with Great Brittan because they wanted us to win, that is why they helped us out. And also, if they French sent over a ton of men and still America lost the war, then they would be ticked off at Great Brittan and they would go to war over us. Today in Great Brittan, the teachers don’t teach the kids about the American Revolution because they lost the war. If we lost the war, we wouldn’t be taught about it. In the history books that we have today, all the major battles that America won are in the books. Even some of the wars we did loose are in there. With this said, I feel that The American Revolution was a war that America definitely needed to win in order to become what we are today.

I would have to disagree that soldiers would become slaves in the cotton fields because at the time because the british would have more likely put them to work building more towns and expanding the british empire. But, later on during the 1800's they might put them in the cotton fields to work, but in 1833 the british banned slavery so they wouldn't be slaves for long. Also, Washington would have been executed too for leading the Americans during the revolutionary war. I also think that if the British did win the Revolutionary War, we would not be where we are today, we would probably have different laws much like the British have today. Our government would also would have been changed drastically.

I think that it would be bad if the british won because we would have to go buy there rules. It would be werid because i think that we would probly be slaves or have to do exatly what they say. I think it would suck to be under there commaned. I think that we would no have states but provences. We would be under the queens control and we would have to do what she said and not what the whole country says. We would not have a president to control what our army does. I would hate it. I dont know about you but it would suck for me.

Honestly, If the british would have won i think that would be terrible. We would probably have really high taxes. Act way different, which isn't a bad thing for some people. Im guessing we wouldnt dress the same or express our selfs the same. I dont think we would have half of the stuff we have today and would be just like them with their funny acents. I am happy we are american and we are a free speaking country.

i think if we lost the war that we would still be ruled by GB because they pritty much ouned us. i also think that they would rule the whole world and we would be one big nation. i think that they would have raised the taxes 13 times higher, so that we would pay off for the war. i think that we wouldnt even be here if we lost the war because they could do what ever they wanted to do adn had the most powerfull army. but that is just what i think.

if we lost the war we could still be ruled by the king of gb. i think that the taxes on items would be very much higher because we would have to pay for there wars. if we had lost the war we might not have freedom of speech or the freedom to wear whatever we want.

I think things would be totally different if the war was lost. It would be like we were never even aloud to have our freedom and other stuff the we all have. We wouldn't have a good education, or health care, or even homes. We wouldn't have anything to do with other countries or the beings. A few good things would come out of this though. We would have a permanent trade group and have a nice place with no Warz like the Cival War. The rest of the people that were apart of it would have been punished, and we might have even gotten a better security program to help protect us from the bad people. Well, there are a few more things that could happen, but i hardly beleave that they would come true. Most people would think that after the war, and if we gave up, that they would give us more of what we wanted, and not hold us on such a tight leash. I don't beleave they would, because i mean really, we started the war and caused them a grate deal of hardship, so why would they be nicer to us after that? This is now 200 words.

If we lost the American Revolution, our lives would be very different. In fact, we may not even be here at all. Like I said before, our lives would be very different, if we were even alive. We would still be under the evil control of Great Britain. They would probably treat us a great deal worse. They would hang the patriots that fought against the Great Britain army. The leaders, like George Washington, John Adams, Sam Adams, Ben Franklin, John Hancock, John Paul Jones, and many, many, many, oh I could go on forever. Not really, but many others would be hung as well. That would probably make us angry. We would, more than likely, try to have another American Revolution. But it would actually be the first, because the original would be the Great Britain Revolution. And another thing, the Great Britain Soldiers would… Well, anyway, we would still be the colonists. That isn’t a very intimidating name. The Great Britain Soldiers… Darn I can’t remember what they would do. But King George the Third would probably rip the Declaration of Independence, into millions of tiny, microscopic, bite sized pieces. Well, this is exactly 200 words. See ya!
